U-23 AFCON : Daniel Afriyie Barnieh confident of teams success in Morocco.

Black Meteors captain, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has positively assured Ghanaians of the team’s readiness ahead of the ongoing Total Energies AFCON U23 in Morocco. 


According to FC Zurich man, together with their teammates, they are fired up to give off their best for Ghana in Morocco on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters in the pre-match conference, Afriyie- Barnieh opined that, 

“This competition means a lot to me and my teammates. The Olympics is one of the biggest tournaments in the world and it involves a lot of senior players, and idols, so it means a lot to me”. 

“If you have been to our training grounds, you’ll notice that the atmosphere, and morale of the boys are high ahead of tomorrow’s game” he ended. 


The Black Meteors as part of preparations played two friendly games where they beat Egypt u23 and Zamalek u23 teams respectively.

Kamaldeen Sulemana and Ransford Yeboah Konigsdorffer dropped out in the final minute but the arrival of Danish-based, Ernest Nuamah in the last few days brought an incensed confidence within the camp ahead of the tournament. 

Coach Tanko will hope to rally a talented squad that boasts of the likes of Dominic Nsobilla, Abass Samari, Sylvester Simba, Emmanuel Essiem, and Yeboah.

Ghana is housed in Group A alongside, host nations, Morocco, Guinea, and Congo.
