ROUNDUP: Performance of Ghanaian players abroad

A host of Ghanaian players across the globe got a fare taste of action with their clubs.

In this piece, I take a look at some of these players who made the most of their game time for their clubs in England, Spain, France, Belgium and beyond.



ENGLAND

Ghana captain, Andrew Ayew came off the bench but couldn’t save Nottingham Forest’s blushes as they lost away to Aston Villa.

Jordan Ayew scored a brace in Crystal Palace’s mauling off Leeds. The brace sees him set a feat as the highest scoring Ghanaian in the EPL.

Thomas Partey gave an assured performance for Arsenal in their battle against Liverpool at Anfield.

Daniel Amartey’s Leicester City lost at home to Semenyo’s Bournemouth at the King Power.

Tariq Lamptey’s Brighton lost to Tottenham Hotspurs.

Kamaldeen Sulemana featured prominently for Southampton in their heavy home loss to Man City at the St. Mary’s Stadium. Mohammed Salisu was out with an injury.

Albert Adomah played 67 minutes for QPR as they fell to fell to Preston at home by 2-0.

Andy Yiadom, Kevon Abrefa played in Reading’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham City. Baba Rahman is still out injured nursing a leg injury.

Joojo Wollacott was an unused for Charlton losing to Bristol Rovers in the League One.

SPAIN

The Inaki brothers combined effortlessly to help Athletic club bask a win away to Espanyol in the La Liga.

Joseph Aidoo’s Celta Vigo came back twice from two goals down against Sevilla to pick a point at the Ramon Sanchez Pijuan Stadium.

Baba Iddrisu served a suspension in Mallorca’s 2-2 draw with Valladolid.

Samuel Obeng assisted one of Juan Carlos’ two goals as they beat Burgos CF in the La Liga 2.

Abdul Mumin saw defeat with Rayo Vallecano against Atletico Madrid in La Liga.

FRANCE

Abdul Salis Samed’s RC Lens got the bragging rights over his Alexander Djiku’s Strasbourg in a narrow win at the Stade Bollaert- Delelis Stadium.

Gideon Mensah, Elisha Owusu both nursing injuries watched on as Auxerre trounced Ajaccio without trace in the Ligue 1.

Alidu Seidu helped Clermont Foot bag an away win to Troyes.

GERMANY

Kevin Prince Boateng played 62 minutes in Hertha’s home loss to RB Leipzig.

Kingsley Schindler assisted one of Koln’s three goals in their victory over Augsburg in the German Bundesliga.

Chris Antwi-Adjei tasted defeat in Bochum’s five-goals thriller with Stuggart.

Daniel Kofi Kyereh still out with a knee injury watched on as Freiburg lost at home to Bayern.

Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer was one the score sheet for Hamburger as they ran riot at home to Hannover in the Bundesliga 2.

Stephen Ambrosius came off the bench to help Karlsruher draw Nurnberg in the Bundesliga 2.

Chris Antwi-Adjei tasted defeat in Bochum’s five-goals thriller with Stuggart.

Braydon Marvin Manu scored in Darmstadt’s 2-1 win over Paderborn. Patrick Pfeiffer came off the bench in the 87th minute of the game.

Kwasi Okyere Wriedt played the remaining 27 minutes for Kiel as they beat Rostock by 2-3.

AUSTRIA

Ibrahim Mustapha was on the scoresheet for LASK as they beat Mohammed Fuseini’s Sturm Graz at home in the Austria Bundesliga.

Forson Amankwah saw 11 minutes to help Salzburg secure a point at home to Austria Vienna in the Austria Bundesliga.

Lawrence Agyekum scored in Liefering’s 2-0 win over Dornbrin.

BELGIUM

David Atanga ‘s Oostende’s were hammered by St. Truiden in the Jupiler Pro League.

Joseph Painstil’s Genk lost away to Standard Liege

Abdul Nurudeen was an unused substitute as Eupen drew goalless to Jonah Osabutey’s Kortrijk.

Majeed Ashimeru lasted the entire duration in Anderlecht’s goalless drawn game with Westerlo.

 

SWEDEN

Thomas Boakye and Mohammed Naeem were on the losing end for Halmstad against Degerfors in the Allsvenskan.

Ibrahim Sadiq continued his impressive form for BK Hacken as they beat Nathaniel Adjei’s Hammarby.

ISRAEL

Zakari Mugeese, Ebenezer Mamatah made match day squad in their home loss to Hapoel Jerusalem whiles Kamaheni Montari was an unused substitute in the Ligaat Ha’al.

 

SERBIA

Ibrahim Tanko got 8 minutes of game time in Javor’s 1-1 draw with Cukaricki in the Serbia Super Liga. Samuel Owusu didn’t make match day squad for this side.

SOUTH AFRICA

Kwame Peprah came off the bench a little too late as his Maritzburg outfit succumbed to a 1-0 loss to Sekhukhune.

SWITZERLAND

Basel’s Kasim Nuhu drew 1-1 to Zurich FC, Emmanuel Essiem was on the bench for the away club.
