One-week observation in memory of late Christian Atsu to begin next month

The one-week observation in memory of departed Ghana international, Christian Atsu, has been scheduled for Saturday, March 4, 2023.



On February 6, 2023, the 31-year-old passed away as a result of the catastrophic earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria and left over 45,000 people dead.

After several weeks of searching by the rescue squad, Atsu’s Turkish agent confirmed his death on Saturday morning.

His mortal remains, which were transported by the state, landed in Ghana on Sunday night via Turkish Airlines.

Following a meeting between the Ghana Football Association, the Sports Ministry, and Atsu’s family, March 4, 2023 has been put aside for a one-week observance.

A host of key dignitaries in the country visited Christian Atsu’s family home to sign the condolence book and pay their respect for their dearly beloved, Atsu.
