Gideon Mensah resumes training after injury scare against Valenciennes

Gideon Mensah, the left-back for the Black Stars, has swiftly bounced back after sustaining a minor injury during the Ligue 2 opening match between Auxerre and Valenciennes.

During the game, the Ghanaian player left the field in discomfort, hinting at a potentially severe injury, and reports initially indicated he might be sidelined for several weeks.

However, despite initial concerns, the 24-year-old rejoined training sessions alongside his Auxerre teammates on Wednesday, suggesting he could be ready for selection in the upcoming match against Amiens.

This rapid recovery is not only a significant boost for the Black Stars but also comes as positive news ahead of the crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Central African Republic scheduled for September.

In the meantime, Auxerre had a strong start, dominating Valenciennes with a 4-1 victory on Sunday. This triumph was fueled by a double score from both Ousmane Camara and Gauthier Hein.

Following their relegation last season, the former French champions are eager to quickly regain their spot in the topflight league.
