Watch Highlights: Hearts of Oak come from behind to beat Tamale City

A sumptuous volley by Caleb Amankwah ensured that Accra Hearts of Oak picked all three maximum points at the expense of a resurgent Tamale City side in a five goals thriller at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

The Phobians came into this game without five of their first-team players as well as coach Slavko Matic, who has been granted medical leave by the club.

Assistant coach David Ocloo named a rather youthful side led by Salifu Ibrahim as captain together with the likes of Rashid Okine, Benjamin, Yorke, Amankwah Baafi, Gideon Asante, and others.

Hearts of Oak were fortunate to be on a front foot as captain, Salifu Ibrahim converted expertly to hand the side the lead in the 33rd minute after Liventius Arthur’s foot went straight into the chest off Gideon Asante not later than four minutes the host were pegged back through an Isaac Mensah penalty.

In what was ending as a draw, Sampson Eduku popped up to give the away side the lead heading into the halftime break with a 2-1 lead.

Benjamin Yorke tapped in from close range to score his 3rd goal in 5 appearances for the Phobians to restore them back to parity 2-2 right after the second half resumed.

Both teams probe each other for the much-needed goal that will culminate in a victory but it was the host who got the last laugh through a spectacular volley from Caleb Amankwah to seal the win in front of its fans who had come to the stadium to support them in their numbers.

The in lifts Hearts to 2nd position on the log momentarily one point adrift current table toppers, Aduana Stars, and a point above bitter rivals, Kotoko in 3rd place with a game in hand.
