Togbe Afede: “Alhaji Akanbi and Sowah Odotei are the right people for Accra Hearts of Oak.”

The board chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak, Togbe Afede insists “Alhaji Akanbi and Sowah Odotei are the right people for Accra Hearts of Oak.”


The board chairman attributed the success of the club to two of his board members, Alhaji Akanki and Sowah Odotei who have come under heavy criticism from supporters of the club.

Odotei and Akanbi have been under serious pressure from the fans as they have been accused of being the main reason for the dismissal of Samuel Boadu.

Supporters of the club hold divergent views as to why things are not going smoothly for the club however, numerous fans directed their anger at the two board members of the club after the club failed to advance to the next stage of the Confederations Cup.

Togbe Afede has defended his two Odotei Sowah and Alhaji Akambi after fans called for their resignation. He said:

“Someone who is not a regular employee. Someone who is not on salary. As a chief, all the business activities that I have is having people work for the community selflessly and without expectation of remuneration,” the revered chief told the media on Tuesday

“Here I have somebody doing the business activity, Accra Hearts of Oak, without remuneration and spending all his time. Meanwhile, he has his own business to run.

“Sometimes I am amazed by the level of commitment of these people, and trust me the successes of 2021 and 2022 on the pitch, what we are doing at Pobiman, the commercial centre, support liaison office and the new head office building will never have been possible without the support of this two gentlemen.”

Accra Hearts of Oak have been in poor form this season and have already dismissed their coach. The team has  announced Serbian trainer,  Slavko Matic as new head coach and hope he can turn things round.
