Thomas Partey’s outstanding performance helps Arsenal defeat Manchester City in Community Shield

Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey displayed an outstanding performance for Arsenal as they emerged victorious against Manchester City in the FA Community Shield on Sunday.

The match was fiercely contested and had to be settled through penalties as it ended in a draw.

Even though Manchester City initially dominated the game, Arsenal managed to withstand the pressure and showed great efficiency with the limited chances they had.

The first half remained goalless until Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, demonstrated his tactical expertise by bringing on substitutes Kevin De Bruyne and Cole Palmer, who combined to score the opening goal in the 77th minute. Palmer calmly converted De Bruyne’s pass.

Partey encountered a head injury late in the game, which posed a challenge for the Gunners who were seeking an equalizer.

However, the Black Stars midfielder bravely continued after receiving treatment, and ultimately played a vital role in helping his team secure the equalizing goal. Trossard, who came off the bench, scored from Saka’s pass in injury time.

The game proceeded to a penalty shootout after ending 1-1 in regular time, and Arsenal capitalized on the opportunity to win 4-1, with De Bruyne and Rodri both missing their penalties.

Partey’s endurance throughout the entire 90 minutes, despite the late injury, highlighted his importance to the team. It seems unlikely that Arsenal would consider selling him, especially with the new season starting next week.

Despite previous reports suggesting his potential departure from the North London club, it appears that Partey is set to continue with Arsenal.
