Oluboi Commodore: Delay in technical changes affected Great Olympics’ season

Oluboi Commodore admits delay in technical changes affected Great Olympics’ season

The General Manager of Great Olympics, Oluboi Commodore, has attributed the club’s disappointing season to the delay in implementing their technical changes.

Great Olympics faced numerous challenges throughout the Ghana Premier League season, leading them to replace their head coach in February.

Yaw Preko, who took over from Annor Walker, was subsequently replaced by Bismark Kobi-Mensah. However, the team’s performances did not show significant improvement, leaving them in the bottom half of the table for the majority of the season.

It was not until the final day that Great Olympics secured their Premier League status with a 2-1 victory over Nsoatreman at the Sogakope Park, salvaging their season.

Oluboi Commodore acknowledges that their season could have been more successful if they had made the necessary changes to the technical team earlier.

“We took too long to make a change in the technical team. By the end of the first round, our spirits were low, so I believe we delayed in making the necessary changes to the technical team, although not many people want to admit it,” he stated.

Great Olympics ultimately finished the 2022/23 Ghana league season in 14th place, accumulating a total of 45 points.
