Match Review : Hearts of Oak beat Medeama SC

Accra Hearts of Oak enjoyed a rollercoaster afternoon after they thrashed current holders of the league, Medeama SC at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Phobians were coming into this game on the back of bagging a point away to GoldStars in week seven of the league at Dun’s Park similarly, Medeama also ran out winners over Samartex at the Akoon Park courtesy of a Jonathan Sowah penalty.

Coach Koopman and his boys were under incensed pressure after they failed to pick up maximum points against Samartex and Dreams FC at home in their last two home fixtures.

The host started the early exchanges on a bright note, a Salifu Ibrahim corner kick was tipped into the goal by, Medeama SC’s goalkeeper, Appiah Kubi on the fifth-minute mark.

Mamudu Kamaradin floated a nice cross which was expertly headed in by Godknows Dzakpasu beyond the reach of the helpless, Richmond Ayi in post for the Phobians, 2-1.

In the 34th minute, Martin Karikari latched on to a ball from his half and made a long busting run into the territory of the away side, laid the pass to Salifu Ibrahim who unselfishly passed to Hamza Issah for his second goal of the game.

Hearts of Oak held on to victory for their second win of the season in six games and would hope this win propels them away to Karela United.

Medeama SC will play Legon Cities in week nine of the league having lost to Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium in game week eight of the league.
