Jojo Wollacott to join Ghana Black Stars in Qatar

Ghana Black Stars’ first-choice goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott will be joining the team in Qatar ahead of the 2022 World Cup despite not making the final 26-man squad due to injury.


Jojo Wollacott was ruled out of the World Cup after he suffered a fractured finger a few days ago.

Charlton Athletic coach Ben Garner, however, revealed Wollacott will be traveling with the Ghana Black Stars team to Qatar to help the technical team.

“My understanding is that following surgery he will still meet up with the Ghana squad and remain a key member of their traveling party. Knowing Jojo as I do he will respond to this setback with great maturity and a determination to come back even stronger,” he said

Sahara Football understands the Ghana FA and representatives of Jojo Wollacott are currently in talks to decide if  the services of the goalkeeper will be needed in Qatar.
