Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton in France to watch Ghanaian players

Black Stars coach Chris Hughton scouts France-based Ghanaian players.

Chris Hughton, the coach of the Black Stars, embarked on a trip to France with the purpose of observing Ghanaian players who are actively participating in the French leagues.

The former manager of Brighton took the opportunity to witness the Ligue 2 match between Auxerre and Amiens, as well as the Ligue 1 fixture involving Clermont Foot and AS Monaco.

Following Amiens’ victory over Auxerre, Hughton had the chance to meet with Gideon Mensah, Elisha Owusu, and Nicholas Opoku.

He subsequently caught up with the Clermont Foot pair Greyjohn Kyei and Alidu Seidu. Unfortunately, Mohammed Salisu was not involved in the game for AS Monaco.

Kyei, who was born in France to Ghanaian parents, has yet to receive an invitation to join the national team.

It is anticipated that the national team’s head coach will consider including him in the squad for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Central African Republic scheduled for September.

Ghana requires a favorable outcome in this match to secure their spot at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast next year.

Hughton’s objective is to assemble a top-quality squad capable of putting an end to the country’s forty-one-year wait for the AFCON title.
