I am doing my best for Ghana – Thomas Partey

Black Stars vice-captain, Thomas Partey has waded into claims that he doesn’t play above his usual weight levels when playing for the country.

This recent development spans about as a result of the midfielder’s subpar performance in Ghana’s opening two games, which has seen them lose one and draw with Uruguay in line for the next game.

According to Partey, he is only following the head coach’s instructions on the field despite requests numerous suggestions by Ghanaians to replicate his club form on the international stage for the Black Stars in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

Speaking ahead off, the clash against Uruguay, the Arsenal star is unperturbed by the high expectations placed on him but claims he is executing his mandate as a player based on instructions by Coach Otto Addo.

“Most people will surely expect more from me, but we are playing as a team,” he told the media during the press conference ahead of Ghana’s game against Uruguay.

“I listen to the coach and look to do what he has asked me to correctly so that he will be happy.

“In the end you know you can do something better, but you need to stick to what the team wants and not the individual, I am doing my best,” he added.

Partey is expected to be an integral figure for the BlackStars as they face off with familiar foes Uruguay at the Al Janoub Stadium on Friday, December 2 for one of two slots to the second round of the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
