Abdul Fatawu Issahaku reveals why Andre Ayew is his Idol
Ghanaian youngster Abdul Fatawu Issahaku revealed in an exclusive interview with Leicester City that he looked up to Ghana Black Stars captain Andre Ayew at the very beginning of his football career.
The player who is currently on loan at Leicester City from Sporting CP expressed his admiration for Andre Ayew and how it is a privilege to share same pitch with him.
“When I was coming up, I looked up to André, I liked how he was playing and how much passion he had for football.” he said.
“There was some players who played in the local league and I liked them too, but Ayew was my idol. I was really watching him. It was his playing style and his personality as well.
“He was always having passion for the game. He always gave his all to the team and, at that time, I just loved him. I wanted to be like him, and now I play with him for Ghana.
“I remember the first time I went to the senior national team and, when I met him, it was a privilege. I was so happy to be on the field with him. I used to just watch him in training.
“It was so amazing to be on a field with him. It was a great feeling to meet him. The most exciting part was, when I went there, he guided me. He started to give me advice about the game and how to improve.
“He talks to you on the game and, even off the pitch, with me here, we still talk. He tells me what he would do and what, as a player, I should be doing and shouldn’t be doing.”
Abdul Fatwu has been crucial for Leicester this season, he has been involved in 10 goals in 24 appearances for the his side.

Kapor laments about Ghanaian pitches
Hearts head coach Nebojša Kapor has lamented the infrastructure problems in Ghanaian football.
Hearts of Oak secured a crucial 1-0 win over Port City FC at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday, ending a three-match winless run in the Ghana Premier League.
Frank Duku’s 20th-minute goal was enough to separate the sides and hand the Phobians three points against the newly promoted outfit.
Despite the win, head coach Nebojša Kapor was left frustrated about the poor state of the Legon pitch.
“This is not our stadium; it’s a national stadium. Ghana football has serious problems with proper pitches,” Kapor said after the match.
The Serbian tactician’s remarks reflect growing frustration among coaches over the quality of playing surfaces across the league.
The Phobias have adopted the University of Ghana as their temporary home venue for the Ghana Premier League.
Hearts of Oak will play Vision FC in the next league game away from home.
