Kumasi Asante Kotoko is undoubtedly one of the biggest football franchise if not the biggest in the country, it’s presence on the continent is deeply reassuring, and to be handed the top reigns of the job is clearly not for the faint-hearted.

Chairman of the club, Dr. Kyei this week has another of the looming problems to deal with, this time with the club’s National Circles Council (Supporters Union)

This week reports circled that the top management of the club and the National Circles are at each other’s neck yet again, with special mention to the latter’s boss, Christopher Damenya pinned as looking to take over from Dr. Kwame Kyei

Damenya has strongly dispelled those suggestions of trying to undermine the tenure of Executive Chairman of the club, Dr. Kwame Kyei, insisting he has the interest of the club at heart similar to his boss.

However, in an interview with Kumasi based Nhyira FM, Damenya insisted he has massive respect for Dr. Kwame Kyei and has no intention of taking over his job.

“We are all working in the interest of Asante Kotoko,”

“If I have anything to do, I will offer my support to Dr. Kyei to ensure he succeeds. He is the Executive Chairman of the club and there is no way I will undermine his work.

“I want to undermine his work, I will be moving from radio station to the other but I am not interested in that because we all want the club to succeed,” he added.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko in recent times have been hit with a fine from FIFA to cough a whopping $240,000 to settle Tunisia outfit Esperance, who are in a legal tussle with the club over a breach in contract terms with Emmanuel Clottey, whose transfer dates back to 2015.

Hopefully, the standoff between the management and the supporter’s wing of the club is settled amicably or else it’s rippling effects won’t be desirable for the Kotoko fraternity.

The Ghana Premier League is currently on hold as the country together with the world battles the deadly Coronavirus pandemic, a total of 841 cases, 83 recovered as well as 8 deaths.
