FEATURED: Abednego Tetteh; The forgotten Jewel

So like usual, I was surfing my phone and chatting when my notification bell rang followed by a news feed from the official twitter handle of Hearts of Oak announcing the capture of predatory striker, Abednego Tetteh.

Initially, I didn’t know what to make of the news, because days prior, I had hints on his imminent move to the capital-based club, Hearts, as a free agent, so I was only in wait for an official announcement and behold the hour dawned gracefully.

Abednego Tetteh signing for Hearts. I said to myself, this was a massive coup for the Rainbow judging from the fact that, he wasn’t your regular forward.

He was fueled with bags of energy, drive, passion, and determination to deliver when push comes to shove.

His days at a relatively unknown Bechem United side, who won the FA Cup at the time spoke volumes of what he was endowed with, his stats were amazing then, involved in 12 goals and 5 assists in 22 appearances career in the 2016/17 league season an appreciable feat worth commendations.

From his success with Bechem United moving on to Al Hilal Omdurman, Jimma Aba Buna, Al- Hilal El- Obeid, Real Kashmir, TRAU he didn’t enjoy a good run in all these clubs leading him back where it all began home, Ghana.

He was bought to replace duo Kofi Kodzi and Joseph Esso but he had limited opportunities to feature under coaches Edward Nii Odoom and Kosta Papic, who preferred Victor Aidoo, Kojo Obeng Junior, and Isaac Mensah.

If there’s any respite for Tetteh, the aforementioned coaches are no longer at post and with a managerial change seeing the young, energetic, and dynamic Samuel Boadu assuming the reigns of the coaching space at Hearts of Oak, it won’t be a surprise to see “Zlatan” as he’s affectionately called get some minutes underneath his belt to boost his confidence.

Abednego Tetteh could provide coach Boadu another form of tactics to deploy considering his ability to play as a figurehead, allowing others room to operate and still getting in on the action in end with goals and assists.

The 30-year might have spent a host of times outside the country, but his experience, will power and passion can never if underestimated, he will be a real asset to the Phobia fraternity, who have a long-standing ambition to win the league after a decade of absence and if anyone deserves another shot on the field, it’s no other than Abednego “Zlatan” Tetteh.
