Ghana’s Black Starlets stumbled and fell to Senegal in their second Group D game at the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Starlets, having drawn their opening fixture against Algeria, were expected to make amends against Senegal in the second group game.
Prosper Ogum Narteh’s boys had an early goal ruled out by VAR in the 8th minute, three minutes later to end first half proceedings. El Hadji Sow of Senegal was sent off for a second bookable offense.

However, Isaac Barfo missed the resulting penalty to end the game goalless.
After recess, Senegal looked the potent side to score following the Black Starelets’ slow start to it.
Ibrahima Dione scored in the 57th minute, which appeared to be the only goal of the game.
The Black Starlets are rooted at the bottom of Group D and would have to bring their A-game against South Africa in the final game.
