Mane, Salah and others gun for African Footballer of the Year

Several top African players will go head-to-head for the most coveted African Footballer of the Year award.



Former Liverpool star, Sadio Mane, who won the last award in 2019, will be in pole position to reclaim his crown following a scintillating campaign with his country, Senegal leading them to the World Cup in Qatar as their first Africa Cup of Nations title in their footballing history.

Other notable challengers are Mohammed Salah, who would be seeking to make it a hat-trick of awards following previous triumphs in 2017 and 2018, and Mahrez in 2016.

The COVID-19 pandemic had a toll on CAF’s award ceremony, which hasn’t been organized in the last three years.

The awards ceremony will come off in  Rabat, Morocco on July 21,2022.
