Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko and three other clubs in Ghana receive financial rewards for 2022 World Cup player contributions

Five Ghanaian clubs have received financial compensation for their efforts in supporting the Ghana national team during their participation in the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar.

FIFA is expected to disclose the specifics of the amount each club will receive in relation to their players’ involvement in the tournament on Thursday.

The clubs that will benefit from this initiative, as reported by JoySports, include Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, Steadfast FC, King Faisal, and Dreams FC.

It has been indicated that Hearts of Oak will receive the highest sum, followed by Asante Kotoko and Steadfast FC, while King Faisal and Dreams FC will both receive an equal amount.

Initial reports from JoySports had unveiled that each player taking part in the World Cup would be entitled to $10,000 per official day spent in Qatar. However, the forthcoming report states that the actual figure will be $10,950.

The funds will initially be transferred to the Ghana Football Association, which will then distribute the money to the respective clubs identified as beneficiaries.

This endeavor has sparked calls from various segments of the Ghanaian football community to include local league players in the national team roster.

On a broader scale, Moroccan clubs Raja Casablanca and Wydad Athletic are set to receive over $1.43 million due to their lengthy stay in the tournament, reaching the semifinals.

Tunisia, with five local clubs contributing players, will receive slightly over $1.49 million, representing the highest allocation for Africa.

Egyptian clubs Al Ahly and Zamalek will share just over $650,000, while three Cameroonian clubs will share slightly over $400,000.

Senegal, with only one local club, Generation Foot, contributing to the national team, will receive approximately $20,000.

The financial rewards designated for the Ghanaian clubs and other African teams aim to acknowledge the significant role played by domestic league players in their respective national teams’ World Cup campaigns.
