Defender Mohammed Alhassan leaves Hearts of Oak

Hearts of Oak have parted ways with stalwart defender, Mohammed Alhassan in the current betPawa Premier League campaign.

The defender joined Hearts of Oak from Sogakope-based club, WAFA SC some five years ago and went to establish himself as a mainstay with the club.

In a letter written to the player on the club’s decision to release him, excerpts of it read.

“With reference to the mutual termination of the employment contract agreement between the player (Mohammed Alhassan) and the club; The player is free to join any club of his choice,” it ended

The 30-year-old made over 80 appearances for Hearts of Oak and was part of Samuel Boadu’s championship-winning team that won the treble and back-to-back MTN FA Cup titles in the 2021-22 soccer season.

Alhassan’s involvement with the club earned him a part in coach Annor Walker’s squad for the final eliminators against Benin and Nigeria in the CHAN qualifications.

It’s unclear what the real reason could have been for the club to release it’s loyal and high performers but in the last few weeks, the club has embarked on a trimming exercise that has seen it terminate the contracts of Mohammed Fatawu and Richard Attah.
