Medeama SC got the second round of the CAF Champions League of qualifying games to a good start as they thrashed Guinean side, Horoya AC at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Coach Evans Adotey put out a strong starting berth, which had BlackStars duo, Jonathan Sowah, Fatawu Hamidu, Manuel Mantey, Joshua Agyemang, Kofi Asmah, and others.

The early exchanges of the game were nervy and tense as both teams were still studying each other’s pattern of play and tactics.

In thirty minutes, the host had created a few chances, through Jonathan Sowah, and Jean Vital but due to poor decision-making and ill luck, they could not find the back of the net.

Six minutes to end the first half, Anobaah was subbed off for the enterprising Kofi Babil but his introduction did little to influence the game as it ended goalless for the first department of the game.

The second half saw the host put up a splendid performance, Jonathan Sowah with a fine opportunity to put the host in front but his chances went begging.

Two minutes later, Kofi Babil made the most of his effort as his spectacular strike found the back of the net, the host, 1-0 up.

Godknows, Bature was subbed on for Joshua Agyemang and Osah Tetteh in the 59th minute of the game.

In a space of four minutes, Medeama SC had scored two goals through Nurudeen Abdulai and Kofi Asmah in the 65th and 69th minute of the game.

Camara Daouda pulled one back for the away side deep in regulation time to end the game, 3-1.

Medeama SC will hope they hold on to their win to progress to the CAF Champions League in their very first attempt at representing Ghana in the inter-club competition.
