Ampem Darkoa Ladies are champions of the 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League after a hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory over Hasaacas Ladies at the Swedru Sports Stadium.

In a highly anticipated final played on Sunday, April 19, Hasaacas Ladies took the lead in the first half through Abiba Issah, setting the tone for what looked like a strong finish for the Sekondi-based side.

However, Ampem Darkoa Ladies responded with resilience in the second half. Priscilla Okyere restored parity with a well-taken equaliser before Gloria Adomako completed the turnaround with the winning goal, sealing a dramatic victory for the Northern Zone champions.

The triumph sees Ampem Darkoa Ladies secure their fifth league title, drawing level with Hasaacas Ladies, with both clubs now tied as the most successful teams in the history of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.

The match, which kicked off at 2:30pm, lived up to expectations as both sides renewed their fierce rivalry in yet another league final showdown.

At the end of the season, several individual performers were recognised for their outstanding contributions:

    • Coach of the Season: William Afoakwa (Ampem Darkoa Ladies)
    • Top Scorer: Ajegipena Zakaria (Ampem Darkoa Ladies)
    • Player of the Season: Beline Nyarko (Epiphany Warriors)
    • Goalkeeper of the Season: Grace Buoadu Banwaa (Hasaacas Ladies)
    • Discovery of the Season: Angelina Yeboah (Fosu Royal Ladies)

Ampem Darkoa Ladies’ comeback victory not only underlines their strength and determination but also sets the stage for an even more competitive women’s football landscape in Ghana.
