    The Black Starlets lost the third-place playoff game against bitter rivals Nigeria at the ongoing WAFU B U-17 Cup of Nations qualifiers on Tuesday, May 28 at the University of Ghana Stadium.



    The two football nations were looking to secure the last slot for the AFCON U17 after both fell to Burkina Faso and Cote D’Ivoire respectively in their semi-final outing.

    With Ghana losing their head coach, Laryea Kingston following his resignation after Saturday’s semi-final loss to Burkina Faso was looking to secure the last of three slots for the AFCON U-17 tournament to be stage in neighboring Cote D’Ivoire.

    Nigeria opened the scoring through, Imrana Mohamed following Michael Armah’s difficulty handling the initial effort.

    WATCH HIGHLIGHTS :

    Defender Harve Gbafa leveled things up for the Starelts as he rose highest to head home a cross from Tsivanyo’s cross from a corner kick.

    Gbafa was on the scoresheet again in the 28th minute as he brilliantly flicked off Mark Kagawa’s cross to push Ghana into the lead for 2-1.

    Six minutes to end the first half, Adeleke Abdulmuiz connected beautifully from a teammate’s cross to head his side level to end the first half, 2-2.

    Adeleke Abdulmuiz was the show’s star with some minutes to end proceedings as he scored a beautiful goal to break Ghanaian hearts at the University of Ghana Stadium.
