Ghana Black Stars had their first training session ahead of the AFCON Qualifiers game vs Central African Republic at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday evening.

New boy Jonathan Sowah was not part of the main training session as he went through a brief recovery session with one of the coaches. Jonathan Sowah featured in Medeama’s 2-1 win against Dreams FC in the ‘Champion of Champions’ final at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday night.

Antoine Semenyo, Nicholas Opoku, Elisha Owusu, Gideon Mensah, and Osman Bukari trained with the ball for a few minutes before bringing out their mats for a lengthy aerobics session that lasted almost the entire duration of the training session.

Andre Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, Joseph Aidoo, Edmund Addo, and Ati-Zigi were all involved in a shooting drill supervised by assistant coach George Boateng while Chris Hughton watched. Andre and Kudus focused on finishing while Addo and Aidoo focused on defending.

Goalkeeper Ati-Zigi suffered a minor face injury during the shooting drills, the goalkeeper was hit on the face by the ball and was down for a few minutes while receiving treatment before exiting the pitch to sit beside players undergoing aerobic exercises. He looked okay and will be available for the game on Thursday.

Ghana will play Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday at 4pm as they look to seal their spot in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
