Hearts of Oak capped off their final-day Ghana Premier League game against Medeama SC with a fine display at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The game produced six goals: a brace from Mawuli Wayo, a goal from Hamza Issah, and an own goal by Jacob Amu Mensah ensured that the Phobians ended the league season with a win.
Hamza Issah was on hand to score the opening goal of the game for the home team to set the tone for the first half.
After the recess, the Phobians got their second on the day through Mawuli Wayo.
The newly crowned league champions would not go down without a fight as they halved the deficit through Kingsley Braye.
In what looked as though the away side would level things up, Jacob Amu Mensah inadvertently turned the ball into his own net after a swift counter-attacking move from Hearts of Oak to make it 3-1.
Mawuli Wayo scored the fourth goal of the game, but Jacob Amu Mensah scored late into regulation time to leave the game at 4-2.
The result means Hearts of Oak will finish third on the league log, with Medeama SC Champions.
