    Kotoko succumbed to a defeat against Ivorian side, ASEC Mimosas in the 2024 President Cup at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, Ghana.


    The former Ghana Premier League Champions, Kotoko lost 1-2 to their visiting neighbors, ASEC.

    The match which drew loads of people to the stadium was played in honor of Ghana’s first gentleman, Nana Akufo-Addo.
    The Ivorian broke the bareness of the game in the 13th minute through Koumae Yao, whose ferocious strike beat the helpless, Fredrick Asare in post for Kotoko.

    Arthur doubled the lead for the visitors through a penalty after Justice Blay was deemed to have handled the ball in the penalty box.
    The second half saw Kotoko play with some renewed urgency and purpose but all that effort will culminate into a goal with seven minutes to end proceedings as departing free-agent Steven Mukwala expertedly converted for the host to halve the deficit.

    In the end, the Ivorian rub run-off with the victory at the expense of the Porcupine Warriors host in Kumasi.
