Hafiz Konkoni admits being under pressure to excel at Young Africans

Hafiz Konkoni openly admitted to feeling the pressure to perform at Tanzanian powerhouse, Young Africans (Yanga).

Konkoni’s transfer to Yanga followed an outstanding season with Bechem United in the Ghana Premier League, where he notched 15 goals and secured the second spot on the league’s list of top scorers.

Yanga turned to the Ghanaian forward to fill the gap left by the departure of their leading striker, Fiston Kalala Mayele, who joined Egyptian club Pyramids.

During an interview with Bryt FM based in Koforidua, Konkoni recognized the high expectations and the burden of stepping into the shoes of the departed Congolese forward.

“As a striker, my primary responsibility is to score goals. To be honest, I’m feeling the pressure to deliver because I came in as a replacement for the top striker Mayele, who has left to join Pyramids. Mayele netted numerous goals for Yanga before his departure, and that’s what they anticipate from me.”

“My goal is to score more goals for Yanga by the end of the season and also meet our objectives,” stated Konkoni.

Since his move from Bechem United during the recent transfer window, Hafiz Konkoni has already scored two goals for Yanga. His aim is to strengthen Yanga’s attacking prowess as they pursue their season’s objectives.

In the meantime, the Tanzanian team has been placed in the same group as Ghanaian champions Medeama SC in the CAF Champions League group stage, along with Egypt’s Al-Ahly and Algerian champions CR Belouizdad.
