Match Preview : Debibi United vs Hearts of Oak

Published

on

Debibi United will host Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday, 1 November 2026, at the Debibi Presby Park.
The game would signal the first time the pair would meet at any level in the domestic league.
The debutants have struggled for consistency in the league; they have fetched just 7 from 24 points in 8 games  (2 wins, 1 draw, 5 losses).
Their most recent loss was a 3-0 hammering by Bechem United last weekend.
If there is any respite heading into the game against the Phobians, it’s their home advantage, which has helped them pick two wins and a draw in four home games.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak sit second in the table with 17 points from eight matches (5 wins, 2 draws, 1 loss), level on points with leaders Medeama but behind on goals scored.

They have put on a garment of form, basking in three consecutive wins (Port, Vision, and Holy Stars), with Coach Nebojša Kapor eyeing a fourth consecutive win.

Hearts of Oak are clear favorites thanks to their strong defensive record and current momentum, but you cannot take anything away from Debibi, who will look to give a good account of themselves at home.

AFCON returns to two years according to CAF

Published

on

The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) Executive Committee (“EXCO”) today unanimously decided that the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (“AFCON”) will return to taking place every Two Years.

The President of CAF Dr Patrice Motsepe announced at the CAF Strategy Conference in Cabo Verde which was held from 7-9 October 2026, that the CAF EXCO would be re-assessing and reconsidering the decision it took last year, for the AFCON to take place every Four Years.

This reassessment and reconsideration was necessitated by, amongst other matters, the recognition that the proposed new Africa Nations League Pan-African Competition which was supposed to replace the current AFCON and take place every two years, would require several years in order to be in a position, to contribute the substantial financial resources necessary, for the CAF Competitions and African Football to be globally competitive and self-supporting.

The CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe said: “The decision by the CAF EXCO that the CAF AFCON should take place every Two Years was based on advancing, protecting and promoting the interest of African Football and CAF’s 54 Member Associations, as well as the interest of African players employed by Football Clubs outside Africa.

The next TotalEnergies CAF AFCON will take place in 2027 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda

The subsequent AFCONs thereafter will take place in 2028, 2031 and 2033.

Emmanuella Adzi joins Indian Women’s League side Sethu FC from Cabfix Ladies

Published

on

Ghanaian defender Emmanuella Adzi has completed a move to Indian women’s football club Sethu Football Club, signing a contract that will see her feature in the Indian Women’s League (IWL) until the end of the season.

The move marks an exciting new chapter for the young Ghanaian, who makes the switch after an impressive spell with Cabfix Ladies FC in the Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) Women’s Division One League.

Adzi established herself as a dependable figure in the Cabfix Ladies defence, delivering consistent performances throughout the 2025/26 GARFA Women’s Division One League season. She featured in every league match, playing a key role as Cabfix Ladies finished third in the competition.

Her consistency and contribution to the team earned her recognition as one of the club’s standout performers, with a Player of the Season-level campaign that underlined her importance to the squad.

She was also part of the Cabfix Ladies squad that secured a bronze-medal finish at the 2026 Cheetah Cup during the 2026/27 pre-season, adding another achievement to her time with the club.

Adzi’s move also makes her the second Cabfix Ladies player to secure a transfer ahead of the 2026/27 season, following Hannah Quaye’s recent move. The two transfers represent another significant development for the club as its players continue to attract opportunities beyond the domestic league.

Her move to Sethu FC offers an opportunity to test herself in a new football environment and gain valuable experience in one of Asia’s competitive women’s club leagues.

Based in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, Sethu FC compete in the Indian Women’s League, India’s top-tier women’s football competition. The club won the league title in the 2018/19 season.

Adzi’s move also comes after she recently joined Clava Sports Agency, marking another step in her professional journey.

Having earned a reputation for her consistency and dependability at Cabfix Ladies, the Ghanaian defender will now look to make her mark in India and seize the opportunity presented by her move to Sethu FC.

Her transfer is another encouraging development for Ghanaian women’s football, as local players continue to seek opportunities to showcase their abilities beyond the domestic league.
