Dreams FC’s fairytale run in the CAF Confederations Cup was curtailed by  Zamalek at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Two quick goals by Ahmed Fati, and Samson Akinyoola in the first half and a third by Mostafa Shalaby in the second half were enough to unsettle the home side.

Before the second leg of the semi-finals, the Ghanaian side drew a goalless draw in the first leg of the tie in Egypt with the ambition of booking a ticket to the finals in their maiden campaign in Africa’s second elite club competition.

Coach Zito named a familiar lineup, which included, John Antwi, Agyenim Boateng Mensah, Abdul Jalilu, Abdul Aziz Issah, Emmanuel and Derrick Agyei, and others in his starting lineup.

Similarly, Mohammed Awwad, Hossam Abdelmegeed, Omar Gaber, Samson Akinyoola, Ahmed Zizo, and Seifeddin Jaziri were given shots in the starting lineup.

    WATCH HIGHLIGHTS :

Zamalek’s Ahmed Fati’s audacious overhead kick was tipped over for a corner kick which was bundled in by Hamza Mathlouthi for the opener in the 12th minute of the game.

A nice intricate passage of play saw Samson Akinyoola shot from 20 yards to beat goalkeeper, Solomon Agbasi in post for the host for the second goal in the 27th minute.

Mostafa Shalaby got on to the end of an intricate pass from Seifeddin Jaziri to slot past the helpless, Solomon Agbasi for his side’s third goal.

Sylvester Simba and Ishmael Dede Yaovi Guede got thirty minutes of game action as they came on for Derrick Agyei, Sulemana Suhiyini, and John Antwi.

The Dawu-based club will feel proud of the achievements that have been ousted by a far superior opponent in the CAF Confederation Cup.
