Ghana Premier League, Dreams FC sealed a historic qualification to the CAF Confederation Cup semifinals at the expense of Malian outfit, Stade Malien at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

A week ago in Mali, the Dawu-based side came from a goal down to beat their host, 2-1 victory in the first leg in Bamako, which meant that they needed to preserve that lead or top it up in the reverse fixture in Kumasi.

The host took an early lead through, Derrick Agyei but that goal was canceled after the referee in consultation with the Video Assistant Referee concluded that there was a foul in the build-up to that goal.

Fourteen minutes after recess, Yoro Diaby shot the away side into the lead, but Sylvester Simba drew his side level.

In the end, the Ghanaian side progressed 3-2 on aggregate. They become the third side since Hearts of Oak and Kotoko carved a path in the inaugural CAF Confederation Cup competition in 2004.

Coach Zito’s side will face Zamalek in the next stage of the competition.
