Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, have released a statement on the eve of their crucial World Cup qualifying game.
The Black Queens lost to Malawi in the quarter-finals in a game that would have helped them secure an automatic qualification spot for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
In the statement, they raised a host of issues, and notable among them was the demand for payment of outstanding bonuses and per diems, while accusing the government of neglect and inadequate professional support during their campaign at the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
They would hope to rally support from Ghanaians as they take on neighbours Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday.
