Newly promoted side Debibi United drew 2-2 with Asante Kotoko at Golden City Park in Berekum on Sunday.
The game marked Debibi’s first stint in the Ghana Premier League as they were poised to give a good account of themselves.
Dogo Yakubu put the away team in the lead 15 minutes after teammate Herbert Gyau set him up for the opener.
The goal marked the difference for the interval.
The home team came out of the dugout with renewed energy, determination and commitment to leave a mark.
Richard Owusu’s powerful free-kick flew beyond Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim for the leveller.
Owusu, buoyed by his leveller, scored again to send the home fans into a frenzy for 2-1.
Kotoko’s prodigy Hubert Gyau reacted quickest to a goalmouth melee for the equaliser, 2-2.
The result sees both teams settle for a point, much to the gratitude of home team coach Isaac Armah, who has not lost a game to a foreign coach.
Debibi United will play Swedru All Blacks, while Kotoko will be at home to Hearts of Lions.
