The 2025/2026 GARFA Women’s Division One League season has officially wrapped up, with Sissamba Ladies and Immigration Ladies emerging as the top teams in Zone B and Zone A respectively following an action-packed Matchday 14.
In Zone B, Sissamba Ladies delivered a truly exceptional campaign, finishing the season with a perfect record of 14 wins from 14 matches. Their dominance was reflected in their attacking strength and defensive solidity, scoring 64 goals and conceding just 8 to amass a remarkable 42 points. Their unbeaten run stands out as one of the defining achievements of the season.
Meanwhile, in Zone A, Immigration Ladies secured top spot with 31 points, holding off strong competition from Ridge City Women and Teshie Constant Ladies, who finished just behind with 30 and 29 points respectively. Immigration Ladies’ consistency throughout the campaign proved decisive in sealing their place at the summit.
Despite finishing top of their respective zones, both Sissamba Ladies and Immigration Ladies are not yet promoted to the Women’s Premier League. They will now advance to the crucial Middle League, where final promotion spots will be determined. Their performances in that stage will ultimately decide whether they make the leap to the top flight.

Rock Ladies and Epiphany Next Gen followed closely with 22 points each, highlighting the competitiveness within the division.
At the bottom end, the relegation picture has been confirmed. In Zone A, Besiktas Ladies and Starlets Ladies have been relegated to Division Two after finishing in the bottom places. In Zone B, Royal Galaxy Ladies and Accra Christ Angels also drop to Division Two following a difficult campaign.
With the regular season concluded, all eyes now turn to the Middle League, where Sissamba Ladies and Immigration Ladies will aim to build on their strong performances and fight for promotion. For Sissamba, their perfect season provides a strong foundation, while Immigration Ladies will look to carry their resilience and consistency into the next phase.
The stage is now set for a decisive battle, as the road to the Women’s Premier League enters its most critical phase.

“GPL missed out $5m sponsorship deal” – Kurt Okraku
Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku has opened up about the league losing a major sponsorship deal from an alcoholic beverage company.
He made this revelation when he appeared before the Parliament Select Committee on Sports this afternoon.
According to him, the Ghana Premier League lost out on a major potential sponsorship after the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) blocked a proposed investment from Guinness Ghana Limited.
“We were approached by Guinness Ghana Limited, which wanted to invest over $5 million annually in the Ghana Premier League. We did everything we could, but the FDA said no,” Okraku told the committee.
He urged Parliament to review and remove the legal provision that gives the FDA the power to approve or reject such sponsorship arrangements.
