Head coach of the Black Queens, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, has quelled suggestions of his side being one of the ‘favorites’ ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON)

The Black Queens have been a the WAFCON on thirteen separate occasions but have failed to win any despite getting to the finals in 1998, 2002, and 2006.

Bjorkegren has rated his side’s chances ahead of the competition, debunking suggestions they can win the tournament.

“Ghana hasn’t won the title, and the last final was in 2006. So we’re not among the favorites,” he told CAFOnline.com.

“But I believe we can be a strong underdog. If we stick to the game plan and have a good day, we can beat any team.”

The Black Queens have won back-to-back friendly games against Malawi and Benin ending a spate of a single win in their five previous games.
