Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has suggested that call-ups will be based on merit and not a quota system for Ghana Premier League players.

Otto squashed the claims from certain football personalities advocating for locally based players to be added to the Black Stars squad for the World Cup following FIFA’s $355 million Club Benefits Programme.

Otto reiterated his desire to pick the best and strongest squad to represent the county in the upcoming World Cup in North America.

“I don’t think we should look at who is local and who is not. We have to look at performance. We have to look at the best players. The higher the quality of the group, the higher the players push each other,” Addo told Joy Sports.
