The Black Galaxies of Ghana opened their CHAN account with a loss at the hands of Madagascar at the Stade Chahid Hamlaoui Stadium, Algeria.

The game ended 2-1 in favor of the Malagasy side, with a goal each in each half from, Razafidranaivo Koloina, Randriantsifera Tsiry with Augustine Agyapong scoring for the Galaxies.

In a hotly tempered game, the Black Galaxies’ David Nsobilla and Augustine Randolf were both booked by referee Mohammed Ibrahim in the 9th minute of the game.

The Malagasy’s first real attack on the day ended up at the back of the Galaxies net through, Razafidranaivo Koloina.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was bundled over in the box which the referee adjudged as a penalty but VAR overruled it.

The Galaxies continued to probe for an equalizer through Daniel Afriyie Barnieh but his header failed to hit the back of the net at the 16th-minute mark.

Coach Annor Walker effected substitutions, bringing on Seidu Suraj, and Sylvester Simba for Gladson Awako and David Abagna in the second half but it couldn’t save the side from conceding their second goal from Randriantsifera Tsiry.

Kotoko’s Augustine Agyapong immediately responded to halve the two-goal deficit to one in the 68th minute.

In the second group C game, Ghana will have it all to do against Morocco.
