    WAFU B U17 : Black Starlets tame Nigeria

    Ghana’s Black Starlets beat  Nigeria by 2-0 in the semi-final of the WAFU Zone B Championship at the Stade Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro.

     



    The two teams were competing for qualification to the competition’s final.

    The Black Starlets took the lead through John Awule in the 21st minute of the game.

    Ten minutes later, Kagawa Mensa teed up teammate Robhino Gavi Yao for the second goal of the game.

    The second half saw a different Nigerian side playing with a lot more resilience and attacking purpose, but it was the agility of goalkeeper Solomon Kwame that made the difference.

    The game ended two goals to nil in favour of the Black Starlets.

    They will play with familiar foes, the Ivory Coast, who thumped them by three unanswered goals in the group stages.
