The Black Queens of Ghana suffered their first loss of the 2024 WAFCON against defending champions, South Africa, in Oujda on Monday.

A clumsy defending from Grace Asantewaa saw Bayana Bayana ladies get the opportunity to start their defense with a penalty which was coolly slotted in by Linda Motlhalo.

Six minutes later, it was the turn of Jermaine Seoposenweto to double the lead for Rainbow Nation after connecting with a pass from teammate Full-back Lebogang Ramalepe.

There was improvement in the second half from the Black Queens, who had come to terms that they might lose the game.

This saw them raise their level with both Evelyn Badu and Alice Kusi hitting the crossbar.

The loss means that Ghana will have to rethink its strategy ahead of its second group games against Mali, which beat Tanzania.
