The Black Queens’ quest to make the finals of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations was thwarted by the hosts, Morocco, 4-2 in a penalty shootout.
Stella Nyamekye was quick to react to nod home the first goal of the game in the 27th minute after Josephine Bonsu’s header was cannoned off the post.

The host crawled their way back into the game in the second half through Sakina Ouzraoui in the 54th minute after a defensive slip-up.
The two teams failed to find the net after the full throttle of the 90 minutes.

The extra time also failed to produce any goals despite efforts by Evelyn Badu, but her effort skimmed just wide off the post.
Ghana missed two of their four attempts, Badu and Yeboah unfortunately missing theirs, while Morocco converted all four to secure their spot in the final.

The loss dashes Ghana’s hopes of reaching their first WAFCON final since 2006.
Morocco will now face Nigeria in the final, while the Black Queens will battle defending champions South Africa for a third-place finish.
