Ghana’s Black Queens edged Algeria 4-2 on penalties in the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

There was little to choose from between the two teams in the first and second half, and the extra time, which will see the game proceed to penalties.

The Black Queens scored four through Afua Bonsu, Doris Boaduwaa, Chantele Boye-Hlorkah, and Evelyn Badu, while the Algerians scored two and missed two.

The results will see the Black Queens set up a frantic semi-final against host nation Morocco, set for July 22, 2025, at 4:00 GMT.

The Queens started their group games with an opening loss against defending champions South Africa, then a draw against Mali in the next game.

They secured passage to the quarter finals after a thumping win against Tanzania with goals from Princella Adubea, Alice Kusi, Evelyn Badu, and Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah.
