University of Ghana Sports Stadium to host 2023/24 Ghana FA Cup final

As the competition advances to the semi-finals this week, exciting matches are set to take place at the WAFA Park in Sogakope.

Nsoatreman FC will play against Legon Cities on Saturday, May 11, 2024, while Bofoakwa Tano will face defending champions Dreams FC on Sunday, May 12, 2024.

The final venue has been confirmed as the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, with Wilson Arthur, Chairman of the FA Cup committee, explaining the decision-making process.

“After careful consideration, we have chosen the Legon Stadium to host this season’s final,” Arthur stated in an interview with Akoma FM.

He highlighted logistical challenges, such as the unavailability of the Tarkwa TNA Stadium, leading to the decision to use the backup plan of hosting the semi-finals in Sogakope.

Arthur emphasized the importance of the Legon Stadium and expressed the committee’s intention to use it for future semi-finals and finals, pending approval from the ExCo.

Defending champions Dreams FC won their title by defeating King Faisal 2-0 in the finals, earning a spot in Africa.

The University of Ghana Sports Stadium, inaugurated on March 2, 2024, has already proven itself by successfully hosting matches of the Africa Games Men’s Football tournament held in Accra just two months ago.

It has also been selected to host the upcoming 2024 U-17 WAFU Zone B competition, further solidifying its status as a premier venue for football events in the region.

The selection of the University of Ghana Sports Stadium demonstrates the Ghana Football Association’s commitment to improving the football experience for players and fans, promising an exciting atmosphere for the conclusion of the FA Cup season.
