President H.E. John Dramani Mahama has given strong indication of his commitment to ensuring transparency in the dealings of the BlackStars.

The first gentleman of the land made this remark in his State of the Nation Address on Thursday at the Parliament house detailing his commitment to ensuring that funds allocated to the national teams are well spent and accounted for at every opportunity.

He remarked, “Next month, the senior national team, the Black Stars, now a shadow of their former selves, will be in action.

“I have instructed the Minister for Sports and Recreation to hold the GFA accountable, particularly on the budget for the team.”.

“There will be no secrecy in how much money the government puts into the national team. The budget that is presented by the FA and other associations must be made public because it’s the taxpayers’ money,” he ended.  insisted.

This calls for transparency sterns from several allegations leveled against the Ghana Football Association for financial misappropriation when it comes to handling of the national teams, particularly the Black Stars.

Hopefully, the  Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, will get his act together to ensure that corruption tags under his leadership will be a thing of the past.
