Tamale City secured promotion to the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season after winning the 3-way play-offs.

The club together with Liberty Professionals and Ebusua Dwarfs were offered a lifeline to the league and to replace demoted AshGold following their inability to qualify at the first attempt in their various zones.

The northern region-based club played two games against Liberty Professionals, which they won by a solitary goal needing only a point in their last game against Ebusua Dwarfs.

In the final game against the Cape Coast-based club, they managed to 1-1 draw with them on Monday at the Accra Sports stadium.

Isaac Mensah shot his side in front through a carefully taken penalty in the 24th minute only to be pegged back by another penalty through opposition player, Richard Addai.

Tamale City are making the first bow in the Ghana Premier League and would have RTU as senior brothers for company up north as the duo will play in the league come this season.
