    Sports Ministry settles Black Queens’ bonuses

    The Ministry of Sports has settled bonuses owed to the Black Queens following their qualification to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).



    The Black Queens were owed bonuses that dated back to the end of July, after they finished third in the 2024 WAFCON tournament in Morocco.

    Following their first leg win over Egypt. The players boycotted training in protest and demanded their unpaid bonuses.

    Despite numerous calls by key personalities, including Kurt Okraku, Tonny Baffoe, and Dede Ayew, among others, they remained unhinged as they demanded that their bonuses be paid to them.

    The Queens trained on Monday evening, took to the pitch on Tuesday evening to beat Egypt in the second leg by four unanswered goals at the Accra Sports Stadium in a 7-0 aggregate over two legs.

    Saharafootball.net understands that each player received a cheque of $9,000 for their unpaid bonuses and $500 withholding tax.
