Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has revealed that a loan of 20 million cedis was secured to support the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.
Speaking on Peace FM, Kofi Adams confirmed the ministry’s involvement, stating, “We took a loan of 20 million cedis from the bank as investment into the Ghana Premier League. We are working with corporate institutions to pay back this loan as soon as possible.”

His comments appear to confirm the government’s financial role in supporting the domestic league this season, aimed at enhancing its competitiveness and visibility.

The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League is heading into matchday 10 this weekend, with Aduana FC sitting at the top of the table after eight matches. Asante Kotoko remain unbeaten and trail by five points but have three outstanding games, setting up a potentially fierce battle for the top spot in the coming weeks.
