    Shafiu Mumuni eyes move abroad

Former Ashantigold striker, Shafiu Mumuni, is eyeing a move abroad following the expiration of his current contract with the Obuasi based club expired.

The club and the player’s representatives failed to agree on terms to a new deal making the player walk out of the door a free agent, meaning nothing for the club in terms of transfer fees.

Speaking to The Mirror Sports in an interview, Shafiu is seeking for an opportunity to test himself with the very best beyond the shores of the country.

“As a player, you have to move forward and challenge yourself in different leagues. I have achieved all the laurels in the domestic league and a move outside the country will help me work harder to improve on my abilities,” he explained.

“If I get an opportunity to leave the shores of this country, I won’t hesitate to take that offer. If an offer from a foreign club is good enough and will benefit me and my career, I will choose to join that foreign club than to sign again for a local club,” he pointed out.

Shafiu has had at least four trials beyond the shores of the country, notably, Romanian champions, CFR Cluj, in January, but for the coronavirus outbreak the move was curtailed.

Mumuni during his spell with the Ashgold won the Ghana Premier League, Top 4 as well as other personal laurels.
