Samartex has been crowned champions of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season for the first time in its club history.

Emmanuel Mamah’s first-half goal proved the master stroke for the Samreboi-based to beat GoldStars thus securing the league in just a little over two seasons.

The Timber Boys gained promotion to the league after they topped the Division One Zone II.

In their first season in the league, they finished 10th on the log with 46 points.

During the off-season, they signed a host of players, such as James Sewornu, Emmanuel Ocran, Emmanuel Boakye Owusu, Desmond Gyabeng, Richmond Darko, and Samuel Tetteh Mensah to their current crop of talented players in their ranks.

Some of the milestones, they chalked saw them pick as many as 45 points from a possible 48 points at home. The first team at home to score thirty-one goals as well as the least in goals, six from 16 home games.

Their away fortunes weren’t that bad considering, they just fell short of 4 points to Nsoatreman FC’s 17 points away from home in the season.

A host of their attackers were on point to score in the league, Evans Osei Wusu (11), Baba Musa (10), Emmanuel Keyekeh (5), Michael Epshon, and Owusu Boakye with four goals apiece.

Samartex has two games more to end the season, an away game to Karela and a home duel against Accra Lions.

The victory will see them qualify for the CAF Champions League in a little over just two seasons after gaining promotion to the Ghana Premier League.
