Sahara Football writers predict top six Ghana PL clubs

A season past, the Ghana Premier League 2020/21 received loads of traction, a new season is on the cards again with clubs looking to get one over each other, fans hoping to get on the end of the bragging rights, we at Saharafootball.net got in on the action.

[Hearts of Oak will be the team to beat this season, I look at their stats from last season and I think they can build on that momentum considering they have all their squad intact having added others to rank as well. Kotoko are a real force to reckon with on any day if you ask me, it’s no fluke that, they are the record holders of the league as such will be challenging for honors, to add silverware to their fleet of trophies. For Medeama SC, they still have a wonderful squad, new coach Ignatius Osei Fosu can rely on; hopefully, he delivers the goods at his new club. Aduana Stars and Great Olympics are all former winners of the league will try to give it a fair shot for their thirsty fans who have longed for a trophy following their display in the league last season.]

I think Kotoko will win the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League. The season that went by saw them lose out on the two trophies that went up for grabs, the league, and the MTN FA Cup to serious rivals, Hearts of Oak. They have made a few additions (Richard Boadu, Richmond Lamptey, Stephen Amankonah, Afoako Dickson, Clinton Opoku, and others) to the setup as well as the acquisition of Prosper Narteh from WAFA SC which should bring some good tidings back to the club once again. Great Olympics didn’t fare badly last season ending up 6th with 52 points but will look to do better this season, Hearts of Oak will be in there considering they would want to defend their title, Aduana SC would be disappointed not to have won the league finishing 4th whiles Medeama SC and Dreams FC will be gunning to give the others a fair contest for the league.

Raphael Bannerman-Quartey

I have a strong conviction that Medeama SC will come good this season, they have Ignatius Osei Fosu at the helm with a plethora of quality he can trust on any day. Kotoko will come in stronger and even better than the season that went by, they will want to appease their fans but the best would be a 2nd place finish. Samuel Boadu will have his first full season with Hearts, but the notable absence Afutu-Kotey will injure more on the squad even though they have made a couple of signings I believe a 3rd place finish will be on the cards. WAFA SC have a lost a gem in Prosper Narteh Ogun, Augustine Boakye, Daniel Lomotey and others but a core of the youthful side still exist for new coach Zaragoza to work with, they will take the 4th position. Aduana Stars have struggled in recent times, but I trust Asare Bediako to help them finish in the top 6 likewise Great Olympics who enjoyed a fantastic season under Coach Annor Walker

Hearts of Oak are favorites to win this season’s Ghana Premier league title. They have done a tremendous job by retaining the core of their squad. Asante Kotoko will definitely not want their bitter rivals, Hearts of Oak to win the league yet again having signed 11 new players and a new head coach in the capacity of Narteh Ogum, who guided WAFA to a 3rd place finish. I think they are fond of signing lots of players which destroys team balance and always seem to change coaches for me you can’t win the ultimate like this. I think Medeama will have an improved season with the new boys who will settle in quickly and improve team chemistry so 3rd place might be for them. Ash Gold are no small boys to this league with Ernest Thompson Quartey in charge and 5 new signings, I believe finishing 4th will be on the cards.WAFA SC losing Prosper Ogun will take a toll on them, Great Olympics may settle for the 6th position in my opinion.
