Ghana’s Black Queens’ hopes of qualifying for the 2024 Olympic Games slated for Paris suffered a snag at the hands of Zambia.

The Queens saw their dreams dashed as they conceded a late free kick in the game which Barbra Banda expertly converted to help the host settle for a 3-3 draw seeing them through to the next phase of qualification stage.

The away side lost the earlier duel in Accra by a lone goal and needed a positive result to keep their fortunes alive.

Banda drew first blood for the host in the 10th minute, moments later, Gifty Assifuah equalized for the Queens to end the first half.

Ten minutes into the second half, Serbian-based, Doris Boaduwaa put the away side in the lead which was cut short by Kabange Mupopo six minutes later.

Azumah Bugri was introduced later on in the game where she scored the third goal for the Queens which nearly aided an extra time but in the dying embers of the game, Jennifer Cudjoe was sent off for a second bookable offense.

Banda scored the resulting free kick to set the tie at 3-3 but 4-3 on aggregate in favor of the Copper Queens who are through to the next phase of the Olympic Games qualification.

Nora Hauptle and his charges will switch attention to the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Morocco.
