Ghana BlackStars coach Otto Addo has sincerely apologized for comments he made about USA referee, Ismail Elfath following his side’s 3-2 loss to Portugal in the opening group game at Stadium 974 in Qatar.

Ghana was looking to avenge their 2014 defeat to Portugal, but it didn’t go according to plan as they lost to the European powerhouse under controversial circumstances.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored from a penalty spot. Many including Coach Otto Addo felt the referee should have consulted the VAR for a better judgment in decision making which he opted against but went on to give the penalty.

In his post-match reactions, he remarked  “If someone scores a goal, congratulations. But it was really a gift. A real gift,” said Otto Addo. “What more can I say, (it was) a special gift from the referee” he ended

In sharp contrast, he has apologized for comments about the referee’s unfairness in their opening group match against Portugal.

“First of all, I will like to apologize for the remarks after the Portugal game. I think I was a little bit emotional and I hope I don’t get a fine” he said.

The likes of Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Andre Ayew, Inaki Williams, and Daniel Amartey will be expected to play above their weight levels if Ghana is to best South Korean side on Monday, 28, November 2022..

Ghana will take on South Korea who drew Uruguay in their opening fixture at the World Cup.
