Ollenu Ashitey cries out for help after deadly accident

It’s been three years since a Kumasi Asante Kotoko bound bus to Kumasi was involved in a crucial accident.

The club bus was en-route to Kumasi from Accra after a league match with Ghanaian Premier League outfit Inter Allies, when it hit a stationed truck on the road.

Several players, technical staff, and bus driver were involved in the accident, which resulted in the death of the equipment officer, Kofi Asare.

Ollenu Ashitey, was one of several casualties, suffering broken ribs and others to the body.

In a recent media interview, the player has bemoaned the lack of support or any sort of compensation from the then management and board of the club.

“We would have died a stupid death if we had died in that accident, Ghanaian players should learn from it, when you get the opportunity to travel outside, don’t take it for granted”.

“I am disappointed because it has affected my career. The sad aspect is that Kotoko transferred us from the club after the accident.”

“We have not received a penny from Kotoko” he lamented.

Ollenu currently plays for Techiman Eleven Wonders after failing to meet the expectations of the handlers Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
